Struggling with alcohol dependence can feel like a cycle that’s difficult to break—especially when cravings, low mood, or past trauma keep resurfacing. At NY Ketamine Infusions, we support individuals who are ready to reclaim control over their lives with a science-based treatment option that works differently from traditional approaches.
Through carefully monitored IV ketamine infusions, we offer a pathway to relief for individuals experiencing alcohol dependence, especially when past treatment efforts have not been enough. Our protocol is not a standalone solution for addiction—but when integrated into a comprehensive recovery plan, ketamine therapy can help reduce alcohol-related cravings, ease depressive symptoms, and create a window for meaningful psychological change.
Ketamine’s potential for addressing alcohol use disorder lies in its action on glutamatergic and dopaminergic systems—areas of the brain deeply involved in craving, motivation, and habit formation. By blocking NMDA receptors and increasing glutamate availability in key neural networks, ketamine helps facilitate synaptic plasticity. In simpler terms, it opens a biological “reset window,” during which patients may find it easier to reframe behaviors and resist urges.
Some studies have shown that low-dose ketamine infusions, particularly when combined with therapy or other support systems, may help reduce relapse risk and increase treatment retention. Patients often report reduced alcohol cravings, improved mood, and greater emotional clarity after a short series of infusions.
At NY Ketamine Infusions, we’re one of the few clinics offering ketamine specifically for AUD support in a controlled, medically supervised setting. We tailor every treatment plan to the individual’s goals, mental health history, and recovery framework, always working in collaboration with outside therapists, psychiatrists, or care teams when appropriate.
Your care begins with a thorough medical and psychological intake, where our team reviews your history, symptoms, and treatment objectives. If ketamine is deemed appropriate, you’ll receive your first infusion in one of our private treatment rooms.
Each session lasts approximately 40 minutes and involves a low, sub-anesthetic dose of IV ketamine, delivered slowly and under continuous monitoring. Patients remain awake and communicative throughout the process.
Mild dissociative sensations—such as floating, altered perception, or dream-like awareness—are common but temporary. After your infusion, we’ll monitor you for at least an hour before you leave, and we’ll discuss how you felt during the session to guide your ongoing care.
Ketamine therapy may be considered for adults who have experienced ongoing challenges with alcohol dependence despite participating in standard treatments such as counseling, 12-step programs, medications, or inpatient care.
It is especially considered for those with co-occurring depression, anxiety, or trauma-related symptoms—conditions that often contribute to relapse risk. Candidates are carefully screened to ensure medical appropriateness and must be actively engaged in, or willing to pursue, a comprehensive recovery plan that includes behavioral therapy or support programs.
If alcohol use has taken a toll on your relationships, health, or emotional well-being, ketamine therapy may be one part of a broader solution. Contact NY Ketamine Infusions today to schedule your consultation and take the first step toward a more empowered, alcohol-free life. We serve patients in Manhattan, Long Island, and Westchester.
